Our Story
Liz Ott & Ines Jimenez
We met eight years ago on a dog seminar in Madrid. In the audience, everybody seemed happy and enthusiastic about the dogs' performances presented - only two women (Guess who!) looked sort of worried and very uncomfortable with what they saw, and their body language showed it all too obvious.
Noticing each other we started a conversation having the impression that we thought and felt the same - unfortunately apart from anybody else in the room. That was the beginning of a great friendship - and an ideal professional partnership. Though coming from very different backgrounds, over time we had drawn the same conclusions and pursued the same goals in our work as internationally practicing professional dog trainers.
Not only the tangible joy in our cooperation but also our wide range of different bits of knowledge and both of our lifelong experience in the field lead to a strong expertise within our team. As "The Dogsters" we maintain and enrich our capacities by a cherished flow of exchange with another, sharing our ideas in lively (oh yes, sometimes challenging but always humorous) discussions and by incessantly gaining new insights at current scientific and practical levels.
Güelcom. Border collie. 11 years old
Güelcom.
Rescued at the age of two, just a few days before the date for sacrifice, she was the spitting image of fear. Fear of everything... except dogs.
With the right intervention, in a few months Güelcom showed who she really was,
Güelcom is a very confident dog, very gentle and sweet with people and brave and assertive with dogs.
Güelcom is a versatile dog. She is excellent at working with dogs with aggressive behaviour towards others of her own kind, assessing perfectly how far and how she should behave. She knows how to set limits and knows how to help and communicate. His presence alone can prevent conflicts between dogs. With puppies she helps the weaker ones and corrects bullies.
She is an expert in therapy support, especially with elderly people with Alzheimer's disease.
In her herding area, Güelcom is capable of moving 700 kg bulls and helping to keep herds of cows together.
She is able to perform excellent advanced obedience, loves to do any kind of work that is set before her and can be anywhere, adapting perfectly to the circumstances.
Güelcom came home with 11kg when he should weigh 20. He has only one defect, his passion for food. But is there anyone perfect?
Calé 10 years old
Calé.
Female Papillon. We nicknamed her the queen for her incredible balance and poise.
Cheerful and intelligent, as a papillon should be, she has been one of the few lap dogs in Spain, those that in therapies with elderly people with dementia behaves like a baby, provoking positive emotions, stimulating a caregiver role in the cared people, promoting reminiscences and the expression of affection in people.
Calé is able to perform advanced obedience and helps adult dogs and puppies with different behavioural problems. She is a very reliable and observant dog, with great assertiveness. Like her companions she communicates perfectly and despite her small size she exudes an authority that is respected.
She loves to do any kind of work.
Nahual: 7 years
Nahual.
Female Papillon. Nahual is nicknamed "la guindilla". She is an extremely fast dog, she loves to work and perform exercises, which she does in a very colourful and cheerful way.
She is a specialist in puppies, with whom she has an incredible patience, she stimulates them, she understands those who are fearful, and she also knows how to reconduct unmannered behaviours or with high levels of stress.
She is a very brave dog who also works with elderly people with Alzheimer's and other types of dementia, as well as dogs with behavioural problems.
Nébel 4 years old
Nébel. Giant poodle. 4 years old.
Nébel. The biggest in size and the youngest of the group. Extremely playful, agile and intelligent. When it comes to working with dogs with behavioural problems, her patience is astonishing, even surpassing that of the other three, she is capable of tolerating what almost no dog would tolerate, showing all possible signs of calm and displaying all her conciliatory abilities, but if her almost infinite patience runs out, she will turn into fury in movement and without any danger to the other dog, she will indicate very clearly what she did not want to understand.
He loves to work, be it with elderly people with dementia, with other dogs, puppies or adults or sniffing work.
Nebel is extremely obedient, most of the exercises he performs have been captured and not moulded, or learning by imitation has been used, a few times are enough for him to remember and generalise everything he has learnt to any situation.
